4-day private desert Fes to Marrakech
- Day 1: Fez - Ifrane - Midelt – Ziz Gorges - Erfoud - Merzouga
Following picking you up from your riad or hotel, we’ll go to Ifrane and Azrou through the Middle Atlas Mountains. During the way, we will stop by some cedar trees to view Barbary monkeys in their natural habitat. As you approach the city of Errachidia, you will experience views of the Middle-Atlas plateau as you go from Midelt via the Tizi Ntalghamt pass and further into the breathtaking Ziz Gorges carved from volcanic rock.
We will proceed to Erfoud and Rissani for lunch before departing for the village of Merzouga, where you will be greeted with a drink of mint tea before checking into our hotel/riad.
- Day 2: Merzouga Desert Tour & Camel Trek (Night in Desert Camp)
Following breakfast, we will begin our exploration of the region by visiting the settlement of the Gnawi people, once Sudanese slaves, to witness their music and way of life (Khamlia village). This settlement is close to the lake of Merzouga, which is home to flamingos. You may also visit the nomad wire house, where several Berber handicrafts are sold at reasonable costs.
In the afternoon, you will be ready for your camel ride. Accompanied by an expert camel guide, you will explore the Erg-Chebbi sand sea for two to three hours before sleeping beneath the stars. You can sleep in an authentic Berber nomad tent if you wish.
- Day 3: Merzouga - Todra Gorge - Dades Valley
After experiencing a spectacular dawn on the dunes, we will ride camels back to the hotel the next morning. Breakfast will be served, and we will then go to Tinghir and the Todra Gorges before completing the day at the Dades Valley.
- Day 4: Dades Valley - Skoura - Ouarzazate- Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah - High Atlas mountain - Marrakech
Just after breakfast, we will travel over the Dades Valley to Kalaat Mgouna and Ouarzazate. In the “route of a thousand Kasbahs” across the Dades Valley, you will capture a big amount of photographs. Before traveling to Ouarzazat, widely known as “the Hollywood of Africa,” we will visit the Roses Valley and the town of Skoura. The vast Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah in the center of the Moroccan desert is where we will have lunch.
And after seeing this World Heritage site, we will continue our journey by entering the High Atlas Mountains through the spectacular 2,260-meter-high Tizi nTichka pass. We will pause to take in the landscape and visit the Argan oil cooperative. We expect to arrive in Marrakech late in the afternoon.
